Presentation by Paul Rademacher, Executive Director of The Monroe Institute
Title: “Ordinary People, Extraordinary Perceptions”
Presentation Description:
At the fringes of our awareness lies the encounter with infinity. In the twilight zone between
sleep and wakefulness live vistas of breathtaking wonder. These are the realms of wisdom,
dreams, visions, and divine encounter. We visit these regions nightly in sleep, occasionally in
trauma, and sometimes during intense creativity.
Yet, we have been taught that awareness of nonphysical worlds is reserved for saints,
shamans, and gurus at best and the mentally unbalanced at worst. As a result, our
contemporary world is sadly impoverished as we deny whole ranges of perception that are our
common birthright. The pace of life and the ceaseless demands of western society all but insure
our distraction from the spiritual quest.
Is it possible for ordinary people to experience inner realms of wonder? For over 30 years The
Monroe Institute has been doing just that. By combining a unique audio technology with
supportive group interactions and serene environments, thousands have been able to explore
the inner landscape in life changing ways. Many have discovered perceptions in just a few days
what would otherwise take decades of discipline by more traditional means.
In this presentation, Paul Rademacher will discuss his own journey of self discovery while
explaining The Monroe Institute’s methods and effectiveness. He will also draw parallels
between this modern-day technique and ancient practices.
There is a world of wonder awaiting discovery. To enter it is to see ourselves in an utterly new
context and to come awake, perhaps for the first time.
About Paul Rademacher
Paul Rademacher is Executive Director of The Monroe Institute, in Faber Virginia, known
for its pioneering work in the exploration of human consciousness. Using a patented
auditory technology, The Institute conducts intensive 6 day and weekend programs that
help participants to experience profound states of relaxation and expanded awareness.
Mr. Rademacher’s interest in consciousness exploration was sparked by a mystical
experience that resulted from a construction accident in 1981. That profoundly life altering
event convinced him to enroll at Princeton Theological Seminary from which he graduated
with a Master of Divinity Degree in 1985.
During his 15 years of service as a Presbyterian pastor, he studied extensively in the fields
of consciousness and spirituality, seeking to bring together traditional meditation
techniques with contemporary expressions of spiritual exploration. In 2001, he became a
Residential Facilitator at The Monroe Institute before assuming the role of Executive
Director in 2007.
He is also a former building contractor, designer, and journeyman carpenter. Paul is an
experienced public speaker, seminar leader, artist, closet musician, husband and father of
three. His upcoming book, A Spiritual Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe: Travel Tips for
the Spiritually Perplexed, is scheduled for release April, 2009 by Hampton Roads
Publishing.
